Detroit Stylin' Skate Club Opens Registration for 2026–2027
Rooted in the past. Rollin' into the future. That's the line we keep coming back to at Detroit Stylin' Skate Club, and this August it means something real: registration is open for our 2026–2027 performance and competition teams.
Detroit Stylin' Skate Club (DSSC) is a 501c(3) non profit organization, that trains performance and competition members in Detroit Style roller skating. Smooth, technical, rhythmic movement that's been part of this city's culture for generations, passed down at rinks and family gatherings long before anyone called it a sport.
DSSC is part of Culture Roll, a national competitive roller skating discipline under USA Roller Sports created to provide culturally rooted skate styles with a structured pathway for competition, development, and advancement.
Through DSSC, skaters have the opportunity to develop their skills, compete through the Culture Roll pathway from Local to Regional and National competition, and be part of a growing movement working toward greater recognition and opportunities for style skating within the sport.
We understand the concern: when culture enters a competitive space, standardization can risk taking away the very things that make each style unique. Culture Roll was built to prevent that.
Each style creates its own standards, and Culture Roll ensures fair competition. By working together, we preserve the authenticity, history, and identity of each style while creating the structure and opportunity to elevate it nationally.

Two ways to be a part of this season
Competition team registration is open to all skill levels. Whether you've been skating Detroit Style for twenty years or you're just getting serious about it, this is your entry point.
Registration and info session: Aug 23rd at Great Skate, 8–9:30pm
Performance team auditions are for intermediate skaters ready to represent DSSC on stage and in competition.
Auditions: Aug 29, Great Skate, 11am–1pm
Club fee is $25 registration fee & $25 a month, covering training, coaching, and your spot on the roster.
Why this matters beyond the rink
Every skater who registers this season is part of something bigger than one club or one city. You're helping build the infrastructure that gets Detroit Style, and every other culturally rooted style under Culture Roll, the recognition it has always deserved. Coaching pathways, judging opportunities, sponsorship, national representation. It starts with showing up in August.
